Weaving a metre in 40 mins ......

The Shuttle is Launched !!

Its late May and finally after much hard work from Cartha Carr (formerly master weaver with Avoca Handweavers for over 40 years !) we have the fly shuttle loom working ! I can hear the weaving angels singing high up there in handweaving heaven !!

After 15 years lying sadly in an old garage , the loom it is restored and creating its own special music again . The sound of the shuttle flying back and forth is simply beautiful ! and it is rhythm can be heard in the Russborough courtyard !! Everyone is celebrating. Mostly little old me !

Cartha worked so hard so a big thank you to him ! What really stuck me is how its all about balance with this amazing machine. So all the threads run smoothly from the back beam through the heddle eyes , smoothly through the reed so that the shuttle passes through the shafts easily and continously .... running from right to left and left to right with each throw. Pure Beauty.

So for me , now its all about practice !!!!
